A balcony that faces the mountain, not the sun
A first-floor balcony with a view across the valley to the mountains — stacked-stone wall, palms below, and a westerly aspect that turned it into a griddle by mid-afternoon.
We fitted our aluminium ceiling awning: a clean white plane from below, a sealed weatherproof roof from above, with the gutter built into the frame. The photo was taken the day the boxes were still on the table — the balcony has been a shaded lookout ever since.
